Biowerkz, a spin-off from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), is dedicated to advancing sustainable material solutions for the construction and furniture industries. By focusing on innovative, eco-friendly technologies, Biowerkz aims to address some of the most pressing environmental challenges—deforestation, plastic pollution, and waste generation. Biowerkz pioneers a circular design approach through the development of NEWood, a mycelium-based biocomposite made from organic waste streams. This process minimizes the reliance on freshly cut wood and synthetic materials, offering a sustainable alternative that reduces CO2 emissions and promotes resource efficiency.
